Kansas City Chiefs final: KC 22, LAC 6
The Chiefs are 5-0. Kansas City beat the Chargers 22-6 at Arrowhead on Sunday for a fifth straight win, and it never really felt in doubt after the first quarter.
Kenneth Walker III was the story. He ran 19 times for 128 yards and both Kansas City touchdowns, a 33-yard burst in the first quarter and a 2-yard plunge with 1:49 left before halftime. Harrison Butker added field goals of 44, 50 and 30 yards, the 50-yarder coming with two seconds left in the half to make it 19-3.
Patrick Mahomes went 23 of 30 for 272 yards with one interception, and Xavier Worthy led the receivers with seven catches for 73 yards. Kansas City outgained Los Angeles 422 to 259.
The defense did the rest. The Chargers never reached the end zone, settling for two Cameron Dicker field goals. Justin Herbert finished 22 of 37 for 204 yards with an interception and was sacked four times. Nick Bolton had 11 tackles and Chamarri Conner had a sack.
The worry is up front. Right tackle Jaylon Moore left in the second quarter with a concussion, the second starting tackle Kansas City has lost to injury, with left tackle Josh Simmons already out. Joshua Ezeudu took over at right tackle, and Mahomes wasn't sacked once. Watch the tackle injury reports this week.
Our take: 5-0 with a defense that holds teams to two field goals is a real contender, but the tackle depth is getting thin.
Milestone: Patrick Mahomes earned his 100th regular-season win in his 131st start, tying Tom Brady for the fastest to 100, per NFL Network. Read more: Mahomes Ties Brady: 100 Wins in 131 Starts
