Next Man Up at Right Tackle: Joshua Ezeudu in Line for His First Chiefs Start
Chiefs Kingdom, the offensive line is getting tested again, and this week's answer at right tackle looks like Joshua Ezeudu.
Andy Reid said Wednesday that right tackle Jaylon Moore (concussion) and wide receiver Rashee Rice (hamstring) would not practice to open Seattle week, as reported by ProFootballTalk and Chiefs On SI. Moore is still in the league's concussion protocol and has to clear it before he can play Sunday night.
Left tackle Josh Simmons, working back from a back injury, was not spotted during the open portion of Wednesday's practice, according to A to Z Sports, after he was limited all of last week.
That puts Ezeudu first in line. He replaced Moore against the Chargers and allowed a single hurry on 17 pass-blocking snaps. Kansas City picked him up from the Giants at roster cuts, and he started 10 of 33 games in New York from 2022-24. Reid sounded comfortable: "He's played before, and when we brought him in, we knew that. And we knew he was a good player."
Our Take: that late-summer pickup is paying off right when the Chiefs need it. Depth up front keeps a season on track.
What to watch: Moore's progress through the protocol and Thursday's injury report before kickoff in Seattle.
