Kenneth Walker Goes Back to Seattle: No Revenge Talk, Just a 5-0 Chiefs Team
Chiefs Kingdom, Sunday night in Seattle just got its storyline.
Kenneth Walker III heads back to face the Seahawks, the team he helped win the Super Bowl last season. Per FOX Sports and the Associated Press, he ran for 135 yards against New England in that game on his way to MVP honors. Now he's ours, and he leads the NFL with 665 rushing yards at 6.3 yards per carry with six rushing touchdowns, while the Chiefs have started 5-0.
Walker isn't biting on the revenge angle. "I'm just focused on critiquing the mistakes we made," he said. "Once we get to that point, we'll see."
His quarterback and coach filled in the rest. Patrick Mahomes said, "It will be a special moment for him," then added, "But at the end of the day, we have to win a football game." Andy Reid said Walker is "wired to do it," called him "a pretty level-headed guy," and said he has "one speed: He's coming at you."
Our Take: That's exactly the right mindset. Reid admitted Seattle knows his strengths and quirks better than anybody, so don't be surprised if they key on him early. Let Walker be boring at the podium and loud on the field.
What to watch: How Seattle's front handles him in the first quarter, and whether the Chiefs keep feeding him to set up Mahomes. Kickoff is 7:20 p.m. Central on Sunday night.
