Chiefs vs. Chargers Preview: Unbeaten KC Hosts Winless LA Without Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) host the Los Angeles Chargers (0-5) today at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff is 2:25 PM MT (3:25 PM CT) on CBS. ESPN's DraftKings line has Kansas City favored by 7.5 with a total of 41.5.
Our Take: This is a trap only if the Chiefs make it one. Los Angeles is banged up on both sides of the ball. Take care of the football, win up front without Josh Simmons and the Chiefs should stay perfect.
WHO'S OUT: Kansas City ruled out WR Rashee Rice (hamstring/knee) and LT Josh Simmons (back). CB L'Jarius Sneed (knee) is questionable, per the Chiefs' final injury report. "He's a pretty fast healer," Andy Reid said of Rice on Friday. The Chargers are without RT Joe Alt (neck), G Kayode Awosika (fibula), WR Tre' Harris (hamstring), CB Donte Jackson (hamstring) and S Derwin James Jr. (hamstring).
KEYS TO THE GAME:
1. Share the ball without Rice. Travis Kelce has 16 catches for 246 yards and 2 TDs, per ESPN.
2. Keep the ground game rolling. Kenneth Walker III has 537 rushing yards and 4 TDs.
3. Make Justin Herbert uncomfortable. He has thrown 7 interceptions in five games.
4. Protect Patrick Mahomes. He has 9 TDs and 2 INTs, and the left side of the line is patched together.
