Chiefs Release CB Kader Kohou From the Practice Squad, Leaving Two Spots Open Before the Jets
One day after the 28-24 loss in Denver, the Chiefs trimmed their cornerback room. Kansas City terminated the practice-squad contract of CB Kader Kohou on Monday, per the NFL's official transaction wire (via NFLTradeRumors/BVM Sports and Arrowhead Pride).
Who he is
Kohou, 27, went undrafted out of Texas A&M-Commerce in 2022 and spent four seasons with the Dolphins, where he played 47 games with 180 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles, per Athlon Sports. A torn ACL cost him all of 2025. Kansas City signed him on March 13 (a one-year deal worth about $1.81 million, per Athlon), released him at final cuts on Aug. 30 and brought him back to the practice squad on Sept. 1, according to the Chiefs.com transaction log. He was never called up for any of the Chiefs' eight games.
Why now
Arrowhead Pride's Jared Sapp says the move was likely made at Kohou's request. Even with L'Jarius Sneed on IR, Christian Roland-Wallace and Jadon Canady sit ahead of him in the slot, so there was no clear path to snaps in Kansas City.
Our Take: This is a fair parting, not a red flag. Kohou was a solid nickel in Miami and should find a team with less slot depth. For the Chiefs, the bigger story is the two open practice-squad spots. Watch for new faces when practice resumes Wednesday, especially in the secondary with Sneed out.
What's next
Jets at Chiefs, Sunday, Nov. 8, 12:00 PM CT on CBS at Arrowhead.
