Chiefs' Kenneth Walker Leads the NFL With 665 Rushing Yards in Five Games

By , ChiefsLand ·

Chiefs Kingdom, we haven't had a back like this in a long time, and it isn't close.

Our Take: Signing Kenneth Walker was the move of the offseason. He's the reason defenses can't just sit back against Patrick Mahomes anymore, and he's doing it in one fewer game than everybody chasing him.

Per Yahoo Sports, Walker took over the NFL rushing lead after six weeks with 665 yards. He's done it in five games because the Chiefs already had their bye. NBC Sports' ProFootballTalk says he's on pace to break NFL records for rushing yards and yards from scrimmage.

Walker has six rushing touchdowns on 106 carries, plus two more scores as a receiver. That's better than six yards a carry for a 5-0 team. Bijan Robinson and James Cook are next on the list, and both have played more games.

Walker isn't celebrating yet. "I'm just focused on critiquing the mistakes we made," he said, per Yahoo Sports.

What to watch: Sunday night. The pace is fun, but the bigger thing is balance. If Walker keeps the chains moving, Mahomes gets the shot plays he loves.
